Welcome
to NES FANZ where I, a long time NES fan shares with you my
NES collection
plus much, much more! I'd appreciate it if you'd look around the site and
enjoy it! Oh by the way, before you leave don't forget to sign
the petition. It's to bring the NES back!
There's 3185
total signatures, go and support the NES!
I also have a Site
Map for easier navigation and a brief intro to each section on the site.
Click anywhere you
want and enjoy!
Welcome
to the new NES FANZ. I call it
"new" because it has a new layout, new intro
page, most of the sections are here, old pages have new
looks, and so on. That FuncoLand
box I got up there is one I ended up getting off of some
guy at the flea market. He got most of his games from the
States and that's where the box came from. I'm bringing
this up because there are no FuncoLands here in
Newfoundland and its the first time I ever saw one and
after all the talk of it on the internet and then actually
seeing it in real life... its pretty cool.
Anyways, on with the news!
Server Change:
A while
ago, Joey informed me that the server for Nintendo
City, Famicom
World, and NES FANZ was indeed changed.
The speed has increased supposedly but that's it.
Accessories:
The
Accessories section will be down and out for a bit. It
will come back over time.
Code Bank:
The B
page will be done over the week along with the Accessories
page and also the history page in "About...".
Exhausting!
Site Map:
Yes,
finally the Site Map has been completed. Its been many
years since I even looked at that page but now its finally
half decent to look at and it serves its purpose.
Reviews:
The
review count is now up to 29 which includes Hi-Game
1999: Super Donkey Kong 2, the first game to get 0/5,
and also Emo Eskimo's reviews are up (you'll find out who
he is in a bit)!
Editorials:
The
editorials section has finally returned. It has various
stuff from me, other people, newer stuff that hasn't been
seen before, NES stuff, non-NES
stuff. Check it out. Note: "XBox VS NES" won't
be ready.
My
NES Stuff:
The
section that shows most of my NES collection
is now here. The manuals and boxes for the games I own are
there, posters, merchandise, games list, high scores and
more.
Speaking
of high scores, Conquered Games picked off where NES
Achievers left off... completed games by anyone who will
send it in will be put up. Other thinks may or may not
include high scores, screen shots, date, time, etc. The very first winner as of
right now with 91 games is Roth...
a huge Ninja Gaiden fan! His list of
finished games can also be viewed here.
Why couldn't I win? How can I win with "?"
completed games?
Cover
Bands:
That's
right, cover bands is back up but with two bands so
far. One is a one-man band, it is Stemage
with his Metroid Metal project... the best Metroid
rock in the world. Next are those insane rappin' robots, 8-Bit
who not only have a new website, but a new CD, "We Sold
our Souls For Nothing".
Shrines:
I have
added yet another shrine, this one is from July 2005... a
while back indeed. Another point of note, not only is this
shrine about a pirate, but its the pirated version of Street
Fighter II: The World Warriors, called Super
Fighter III (even though the title screen clearly
says "Street Fighter III"). Anyways, check it
out:
Time
permitted, I just brought back this shrine in the nick of
time since it was almost done anyway. Here's Yie Ar
Kung-Fu:
NES FANZ has a staff?
Yes,
the time has finally come to announce that behind the
scenes there was actually a "ghost writer" for
NES FANZ (betcha Joey
never knew lol). This cool dude goes by the name of Emo
Eskimo and he did some reviews for me back in the day that
are finally being showed now. But not only that, Double E,
has finally come out of hiding and stopped cutting himself
and listening to Nirvana to become an official staff
member for NF! His reviews will finally be
acknowledged as they resurface but he still wants to
remain hidden... you and I can't even contact the guy! I'll put up a staff page as
a result!
Here's
a play thru of a really bad unlicensed game for the NES Zapper. I loaded
a save state after each successful round to show the game over screen. I
didn't want you to have to suffer through another round of this crap.
One of only 18 Known NES games to use the Zapper.
*Special thanks to juggalones7 for pointing this game out to me
The new affiliate is
none other than the guy who helped me with the M.U.S.C.L.E.
shrine back in September 2005. His site is Nathan's
M.U.S.C.L.E. Page and its cool if your into the old toys from years
ago. Check it out.
Also, check
out Ice Hockey Stadium... although it appears
to be pretty much dead. Last update was August 2006, contact
feature doesn't work, you can't register in the forum there,
the forum is dead, etc. It's too bad... it had a lot of
stuff on the cool hockey game. Oh well.
One more
thing, Roth has a
wicked new site called Play the NES. Check it
out. Also, Roth has a lot of Conquered
Games... he's a master!
Music of the
day/week/month/year/I dunno:
I've put up 5 devastating
tracks, some old, some new (in fact 2 of them aren't even NES-related,
but its OK). We have 8-Bit's "Not Workin'", The
Game Overs' "Little Mac's Confession" and "Hyrule's
Angel", and Axe Murder Boyz's
"Redrum
Where I'm From" and
"Scream my Name".
I was
looking for new tracks to put up when I noticed the 8-Bit
finally updated with a new CD and shows! If you don't know
who they are, their a bunch of rappers in robot suits who
use NES beats and do a pretty decent job I
might add.
They were also mentioned on the November, 2006 issue of Nintendo
Power... that's quite the honor.
A friend
of mine managed to get his hands on Stemage's
Metroid
Metal CD. It's actually a complication of the tracks
he's been putting up on his site since 2004, 12 tracks
based on music from Metroid on the NES.
Sure, you can download the tracks on his site, most have
but its WAYYY better on CD. Their all enhanced for your
listening pleasure. Buy
it. This occasion boosted myself enough to
bring back the cover bands page
featuring of course, Metroid Metal. Enjoy!
AVGN
reviews the movie, TMNT III:
The Angry
Video Game Nerd reviews the horrible TMNT 3 and says what
needed to be said and does what should've been done many
years ago.
Edit:
Thanks to youtube, the guy was suspended. I'm really sick of
youtube's shit.

lol, now that's how you
keep a New Year's resolution to keep fit!
Hope
you all had a great Christmas and New Year's! Heh, this is
a little bit of a late update, I mean, its almost a moth
later but this update is pretty huge. We got the return of
the review section, shrines, update archives, code bank
and other stuff.
The Code
Bank is finally up, the "0-9", "A", "E",
"F", "H", "O", "Q", "X", "Y" and "Z" portions of it anyway. There's cheats, game genie codes,
hints, secrets... shit you can find anywhere on the world
wide wide web anyway except there's no bullshit! All the
codes should work... I hope. I also included some codes
with screen shots to prove they work.
The
updates archive has returned. All the updates I have ever
made have been kept for your viewing pleasure, from to
December 25, 2003 when NES FANZ was one Angelfire
to this date.
Reviews:
I must
say, the reviews section has to be one of the most dragged
out sections on the site. None the less, I have 13 reviews
up right now if you want to check them out. In the
meantime, the review page itself is roughly done, but its
a start.
Shrines:
After
probably years of working on it, it's finally on-line on NF.
So far, the Famicom game Ikki is up. I gave
the shrine originally to Famicom
World since well... it's a Famicom game.
I also
have a shrine dedicated to my favorite NES
wrestling game: M.U.S.C.L.E.. As most know,
it is based off of the toys, comics and cartoons and has a
lot of history which is told in the shrine.
Many
years ago, ICP put out a tape based on stolen wrestling
footage from Japan and under fake alias', dubbed in their
own commentary and had fake names for all the wrestlers. This was called Strangle-Mania
from 1996. They put out another one in 1999 with more
out-of-this-world death matches with barbed wire, bombs,
weapons, and the funny commentary from the first one. That
was Strangle-Mania 2.
Today I
got the awesome Strangle-Mania: Collector's Edition...
the 2 Strangle-Mania's put together with three bonus
matches and a music video! So, not only do you get all
these matches that would cost you probably 50 bucks to
buy legally, but this is 7 bucks + shipping and
man-handling and Canadian money which came to $16 I think.
I got
mine at HatchetGear.com,
but I'm not sure if its there anymore. Along with the DVD
I also got a windshield "Shaggy 2 Dope" sticker.
I should also mention that a while back I made a review
for the first Strangle-Mania.
BAm Bam
dies:
Now, onto
some sad news, wrestling hero and legend, the "Beast
from the East" Bam Bam Bigelow passed away on Friday
January 19, 2007 due to unknown causes at this time. He was known for his awesome
presence and the fact that a big man such as he, could
literally move
like a cruiserweight and still show off his super
heavyweight strength. Fans of the NES may
have seen him wrestle for World
Wrestling Entertainment back in the late 80's and
early 90's (most famous for his match with former NFL
player, Lawrence
Taylor), then in Extreme
Championship Wrestling where he won the world
title and TV
title and gained fame with his feud with Taz
(Two different moments had Taz
DDT Bam through the entrance ramp and Bam slam Taz
through the ring!) and Rob
Van Dam (RVD beat Bam Bam for the TV title is a famous
match with catapulted Rob's career).
Bam Bam
not only has the pleasure of being immortalized in the
minds of wrestling fans everywhere, but also on the NES
as he was featured in WWF WrestleMania and WWF
King of the Ring (or maybe not):
WWF
WrestleMania (1989)
WWF
King of the Ring (1993)
Angry
Video Game Nerd's Top 10 Moments:
Might as
well put up a link to the AVGN's top 10 moments of 2006
(even though its late). If you don't know who the AVGN
is, then look him up.
Anyways, I'm out

Merry
Christmas!
It sure has been a VERY
long time since I last updated this place! The whole time I have been
working, college, watching wrestling, etc. Time and time again I was
able to do random shit with NF, but by the time I'd go at it again, I'd
scrap the idea and do something else. Well, right now I finally have a
layout I'm going to stick with and even the most hater-est hater would
agree with. Yeah, even the one who left this dumb comment on the
shoutbox:
lol:
glad this piece of **** is dead. xb0x 360, bitch. respect it
lol indeed. Was this
asshole checking my site so long to see if images dropped until the site
died or something? Really though. And XBox 360? WTF is that
shit?
You've taken the shit that was XBox, piss over it with silver, add 360
to it and call it a console? lol... next time comment with an actual
name, bitch. Respect that.
Now, on with the news!
As you look around, heh,
there's still lots of pages and sections STILL not up and the sections that
are still need make-over's! They will in due time. You'll also notice
the scroll bars have the NES controller design, nice touch. As of right
now, I'm working on the "About...", "Accessories",
and "Updates" to see the old shit. I'm even trying to make a
better intro page. Oh, one more thing. I may have mentioned a player
that plays NES music on main pages... like this one:
Innovativeness. Click
on the title of the track and you'll see who made the track!
Lego NES:
I know I've made some
things out of lego concerning the NES, like the Raccoon
Mario form SMB3 and a NES
controller but this time I'm trying to build an actual working NES
with a lego shell! This was actually done before... right here.
NES Cleaning Article:
I don't usually read
newspapers but when I saw the undeniable picture of the NES on the front
page I had to give it a read. I'll have these scans up in like, half a
year. lol
Music of the
day/week/month/year/I dunno:
I've put up 5 devastating
tracks, some old, some new (in fact 2 of them aren't even NES-related,
but its OK). We have 8-Bit's "Oxygen", Metroid
Metal's "Metroid (Norfair)", The Advantage's
"Gremlins 2 (Stage 2)", and Axe Murder Boyz's
"Dream" and "Honor".
Famicom World is here!:
Finally! After months of speculation, delays, slackness (on my behalf), and
just the basic difficulty of putting together a site on the NES' Japanese
counter-part... Famicom World is finally here! FW is owned by "FamicomJL" and
would've never looked beautiful if not for "JC".

Did you
know...
The Famicom version of Ice Climber has seal enemies whereas the NES version has snow monsters?
